She spent most of her childhood in foster homes and orphanages until 1937. Upon being released from the orphanage, she went to another foster home. She married her first husband at 1942 at the age of 16. By this time Marilyn began to model swimsuits and color her hair blonde. a variety of shots made their way into the public eye, especially those of RKO Pictures head Howard Hughes. He offered Marilyn a screen audition, but an agent suggested that 20th Century-Fox would be the better choice for her, since it was a much bigger and more prestigious studio.
From then on the name Marilyn Monroe sky rocketed into the scene. Her acting debut is in 1947 film. The Shocking Miss Pilgrim where she was given bit parts. Some of her famous movies includes Niagara (1953) where she starred as a femme fatale scheming to murder her husband, the comedy How to Marry a Millionaire (1953), The Seven Year Itch (1954) that introduce one of her trademarks, Bus Stop (1956) a film where she played as a saloon singer with little talent who falls in love with a cowboy, the much criticized The Prince and the Showgirl (1957), Some Like It Hot (1959) another comedy, Let’s Make Love (1960) another controversial movie, and her last film The Misfits (1961).
Another fact that made her controversial is her marriage to 3 different men. She married her first husband Jimmy Dougherty on June 19, 1942. Jimmy was 21 then and Marilyn was 16, they were neighbors and dated for six months. The marriage lasted for four years, they divorced in June 1946. Her second husband is Joe DiMaggio whom she married on January 14, 1954. Marilyn tied the knot with the baseball superstar in San Francisco City Hall. They had been a couple for 2 years before the marriage. Unfortunately, the marriage only lasted for nine months due to “conflict monroe roofers of careers”. The last husband is the playwright Arthur Miller; they make it official on June 29, 1956. Unhappily, the marriage between Marilyn and Arthur ended on January 20, 1961.
Another Controversial thing about the actress is her death. On August 5, 1962, she was found dead at her home in Brentwood, Los Angeles, California. She was 36 years old that time. At the succeeding autopsy, the death was caused by a barbiturate overdose resulting to a suicide. Some speculations stated that it is murder due to some circumstances and the time trail after the body was found. Also conspiracy theories arise, involving even John and Robert Kennedy, CIA and the Mafia.
